CHALLENGES ARE MASTERED

Since 2020

Only two months after the death of Josef Fischer, a devastating fire breaks out at the production facility in Mukachevo, Ukraine. For over 30 years, this second location has been an important pillar for Fischer, alongside production at the headquarters in Ried im Innkreis. On the night of October 12, 2020, a fire broke out in the ski production area and destroyed almost the entire hall as well as essential equipment for the production of Alpine and cross-country skis.

Immediately after all investigations were completed, the demolition of the remains of the old hall begins at the end of the year. A new production hall is built exactly on the floor plan of the burnt-down factory on an area of 22,000m² - about the size of three soccer fields. After a construction period of just eight months, the first new systems begin in August. The new production hall, including the technical infrastructure, is completed by the beginning of November 2021. By the end of the year, all key ski production equipment is installed and put into operation on site. Production operations gradually ramp up from January 2022. The 22l23 collection is already being produced on the latest and most technologically advanced equipment inside a modern infrastructure.

The first collection skis have barely rolled off the production line when the next piece of bad news arrives. On February 24, 2022, there is armed conflict in Ukraine. The Fischer production plant is located in the Transcarpathian region in the far west of Ukraine, 750 kilometers from Kiev and only 40 kilometers from the border with Hungary. Even if there are no hostilities on site in Mukachevo, the operational processes are affected by the war. In several areas, only partial operation is temporarily possible. Nevertheless, production continues and high-tech products for the future are being manufactured on state-of-the-art production facilities.
