It's not about how you feel, it's what you make out of it: Andreas Nygaard

Andreas Nygaard is well known in the long-distance scene. The tall Norwegian double pole specialist on Team Ragde Charge won the 2018 Vasaloppet thanks to his impressive sprinting skills and continues to claim many victories on the finishing stretch every season.

When did you start skiing?

I have been skiing as long as I can remember. I grew up in a place with good skiing conditions 6 months per year.

When and why did you decide to go for long-distance skiing in particular?

After Vasaloppet 2014, I decided to go all in on long-distance skiing.

What was your biggest moment in your skiing career?

Winning Vasaloppet in 2018.

What are the top 3 things we should know about you?

I love to hunt and fish.

I usually live a life with no alarm (in the morning).

I suck at singing.

What is your favorite quote or personal motto?

In Norwegian: "Det handler ikke om hvordan du har det, men hvordan du tar det." which means something like "It's not about how you feel, but how you take it."

Which ritual do you have before the race?

No rituals, just routines. Coffee, a gel right before walking to start, and changing into new/dry gloves.

Where would you like to travel to?

Alaska to see the wildlife.

What is your favorite hobby on a day off?

Reading a good book accompanied with a cup of coffee and some newly baked pastry.

How would your roommate describe you?

Early bird, leisurely, and a bit unstructured.

What does Fischer mean to you?

Almost everything when it comes to racing. All my victories have been due to faster skies than my competitors or at at least as fast skis as they had. That is just a fact.
