World Cup Start in Sölden

Eventful season opener in Sölden, where the athletes started the 23I24 World Cup season with the traditional Giant Slalom on the Rettenbachferner. A great atmosphere on Saturday in the finish stadium of Sölden and also on Sunday despite the race cancellation.

And off we go!

With the eagerly awaited World Cup start on the Rettenbachferner the alpine World Cup season 23I24 officially started . While the women's race took place in perfect weather, the men's race on Sunday unfortunately had to be interrupted due to strong winds and then completely canceled.

In the women's race, Switzerland's Simone Wild was the only athlete from the #fischerracefamily to make it into the second run and thus into the points.
The other athletes Katharina Huber, Neja Dvornik, Nina Astner and Lisa Nyberg could not reach the cut of the 30 best for the second round.

In the men's race Stefan Brennsteiner, Raphael Haaser and Fabian Gratz were on the course heading for the second run before the race unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the difficult weather conditions. Simon Maurberger and Fadri Janutin did not even make it to the start of their first run.

The women's World Cup calendar continues in Levi, Finland, where there will be two slaloms on November 11 & 12. In the men's it goes on the same days with the downhill in Zermatt/Cervinia.
