Stefan Kraft and Maren Lundby succeed in Lillehammer

Stefan Kraft (AUT, Fischer) and Maren Lundby (NOR, Fischer) are the winners of the second RAW AIR skijump in Lillehammer (NOR). Katharina Althaus (GER, Fischer) finished second.

In Lillehammer the conditions were also not easy to master. After headwind at the beginning of the competition, more crosswind and tailwind mixed during the event, so that some top10 athletes dropped back slightly after the first round. That was not the case for Stefan Kraft and Robert Johansson (NOR), who continued to extend their lead against the other jumpers - and Ryoyu Kobayashi (JPN) also seems to have his podium fixed at RAW AIR. Stefan Kraft showed the longest jump of the day with 141 meters and took the victory quite clearly: "It was a lot of fun today, I really like this hill. My two jumps were perfect. The second jump was really amazing, it's great that I even got a 20.0 by a judge. I'm looking forward to Trondheim and Vikersund, it will be very exciting." Fourth in today's competition went to Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer), who improved by four positions after eighth place after the first jump. Junshiro Kobayashi (JPN, Fischer) dropped back slightly, but finished in good sixth place. Ninth place went to Philipp Aschenwald (AUT, Fischer) ahead of Kilian Peier (SUI, Fischer).

Later in the women's competititon the conditions were quite similar. Already 12 jumpers before the end, the gate shortening for Katharina Althaus was registered, who was in the lead after the first round. First, however, the other athletes had to jump first such as Maren Lundby, who was only in fourth place after the first round. 125 meters were needed to take the lead, but the local hero landed not before 138 meters - that was a clear attack to the leaders. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT, Fischer) and Eva Pinkelnig (AUT) could not keep up with their distance and dropped behind the Norwegian. Now only Katharina Althaus was sitting on the bar on top of the hill and fnally jumped out of the same gate as everyone else. With 132 meters, she could not quite catch Maren Lundby, but was second with four points behind. Danie Iraschko-Stolz finished fourth. Seventh place went to an overjoyed Silje Opseth (NOR, Fischer), who, like the ninth-placed Anna Odine Strøm (NOR, Fischer), cheered on a top10 result.
