Determining your glove size

Like all your ski gear, your gloves have to fit well to perform well, which is basically to keep you warm. An overview table of glove sizing for men, women, and children is below, but we’ll also look a little closer behind the numbers.

When shopping for new gloves, don’t hesitate to bring your ski poles with you. Poles have different grips, and exactly how everything fits and feels together could determine how happy you are the next few ski seasons.

Determining your size

You’ll need a soft measuring tape to find your hand size. It may go easier with a friend’s help.

• Looking at the back of your hand from above, with the fingers relaxed, wrap the tape measure across and around the widest part of your hand, just below the knuckles. Do not include your thumb. Find your measurement on the table for your numeric or letter sizing.
  
  
• Every hand is unique, so this is only a guide. There are no officially recognized size norms for gloves, so keep in mind there can be distinct variances among manufacturers, countries, etc.
  
  
• There is no difference between men’s and women’s gloves, so there is no specific reason to be concerned with how a glove is labeled. All that matters is fit. And if you seem to fall between two glove sizes, you’ll be warmer in a larger glove.
  
  
• Children’s gloves are often sized by age. More than with the adults, this is very much a general guideline only, in order to help narrow a parent’s selection. Obviously children of a similar age can be very physically different.
