Stefan Kraft at Kulm on the podium

Stefan Kraft (AUT, Fischer) made a podium in ski flying at the Kulm in Bad Mitterndorf (AUT). Karl Geiger (GER, Fischer) landed just behind him.

After yesterday's training and qualification fell victim to stormy gusts, the athletes had to adjust to the very large hill with just a test jump. After the first round, Karl Geiger and Stefan Kraft, second and first place in the overall World Cup, led the classification. In the final the tailwind got a little stronger for the last jumpers, so that Kraft and Geiger jumped to 214.5 and 213 meters and fell back to third and fourth place. The German was only 0.1 points off the podium. Before Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer), the tenth after the first round, the inrun length was shortened by a hatch and the Pole was able to use an headwind for a long jump to 231.5 meters, which meant seventh place. Michael Hayböck (AUT, Fischer) was far too late at the take-off table and dropped back to eleventh.
