In the end, in an extremely difficult competition with strong gusts of wind, experience prevailed. The 37-year-old Finn often waited a long time for the next shot, accepted the risk of shaky legs and lost 1:12 minutes to the fastest shooter at the shooting range. However, she made up for this time by being the only athlete to go through the race with just one visit in the penalty loop - the other athletes missed between three and eleven targets. After a relaxed final lap, she was 30 seconds ahead of Tiril Eckhoff, who had to go into the penalty loop four times. For Kaisa Mäkäräinen it was the second successful result after fourth place in the mass start in Le Grand Bornand (FRA) in a previously difficult winter. She was of course all the more happy about the victory: "My whole family is here. I told them not to come to Oberhof, there is always such bad weather. But they wanted to get to know a new World Cup location and now I am happy that they are here!" Denise Herrmann (GER, Fischer ***) showed a sometimes very level-headed shooting in the most difficult conditions, but three penalties in the last shooting (six in total) made an even better result than fifth impossible. Hanna Öberg (SWE, Fischer ***) finished sixth ahead of Iryna Kryuko (BLR, Fischer ***), who fought for victory until her final shooting, where she missed four targets. Lena Häcki (SUI, Fischer ***) was the fastest shooter of the day with a lot of risk and finished eighth with eight penalties. Katharina Innerhofer (AUT, Fischer ***) took tenth place.
