Tiril Eckhoff wins pursuit race in Ruhpolding

Tiril Eckhoff (NOR, Fischer ***) dominated the pursuit race in Ruhpolding (GER) after her clear sprint victory. Paulina Fialkova (SVK, Fischer ***) finished second ahead of Hanna Öberg (SWE, Fischer ***). Quentin Fillon Maillet (FRA, Fischer ***) took second place in the men's race.

Because of her big sprint lead, Tiril Eckhoff mastered the pursuit at will. The Norwegian, who had to deal with some injury concerns in the summer, apparently used the time to improve her shooting. Today she hit 19 targets and was one of the best shooters, so that after the last shooting she could cheer and wave at the spectators. Paulina Fialkova and Hanna Öberg fought an exciting duel with both two penalties, which the Slovakian finally won. Linn Persson (SWE, Fischer ***) improved from 27 to 5 with just one shooting error, while Denise Herrmann (GER, Fischer ***) stormed from 19 to 6 with three misses. Monika Hojnisz Starega (POL, Fischer ***) finished seventh ahead of Vita Semerenko (UKR, Fischer ***), who did an excellent race like her twin sister Valj Semerenko (UKR, Fischer ***): Vita improved as the only zero-shooter from 34 to 8, Valj passed many athletes from 59 to 18. Susan Dunklee (USA, Fischer ***) finished tenth.

In the men's pursuit race, Martin Fourcade (FRA) and Quentin Fillon Maillet were racing together until Fillon Maillet had to let the compatriot go after a penalty loop. In the end, however, he could look forward to a safe second place. Tarjei Bø (NOR, Fischer ***) and Johannes Dale (NOR, Fischer ***) showed first-class pursuits after 28th and 27th places in sprint, and moved up to seventh and ninth place. Alexander Loginov (RUS, Fischer ***) finished tenth.
