The two best ski jumpers of the season have delivered a tough fight and there were converted only 25 centimeters between gold and silver. In the first round, Katharina Althaus tied yestday's hill record of Maren Lundby, but she did not make a good landing, so the Norwegian was 1.6 points ahead after a jump of 106.5 meters. In the final, the German jumped to 107 meters and hoped for gold, nibbling at the fingertips and in the arm of defending champion Carina Vogt (GER), who was sure of victory. Maren Lundby was with 104.5 meters behind the German, but got better style points and also had a bit more tailwind, so that was finally the reason for her win. "I showed a really good jump. 25 centimeters ... but nothing doing. I was hoping that this time it will be enough and not second again like in Oberstdorf, but I'm also happy about silver."
After eighth place after the first round, Daniela Iraschko-Stolz made it to the podium with her 105.5 meters in the final. The 35-year-old cheered loudly, which is understandable after her history: Early in the season she crashed in training before the first competition and broke his nose twice. In the competition, she was already back and did not have an operation even later, although since then she hardly gets air through her nose. Due to her problems breathing through the nose, she got a pneumonia, which tied her to the bed for three weeks. Just in time for the home World Championships, she returned to competitions and after silver with the team today she took her second medal. Anna Odine Strøm (NOR, Fischer) finished ninth in front of Carina Vogt, who was completely twisted in her final jump so that no improvement was possible.
