In pleasant temperatures but difficult wind conditions, the first competition took place at the Ski Jumping World Cup in the Sizbik Nizhniy Tagil (RUS). After Piotr Zyla (POL), the runner-up of the first round, had to jump in an extremely strong crosswind and thus had no chance at all, only Peter Prevc (SLO, Fischer) was standing on t of the hill to prevent Yukiya Sato (JPN) to win his premier victory who was seventh after the first round. Prevc shows in this winter, where he would have already earned a podium in Ruka without the disqualification, compared to the last few years much better efforts. The Slovenian had slightly better conditions than the Pole before him, but wanted too much and landed at 123 meters, which meant eighth place for him. Karl Geiger and Philipp Aschenwald convinced with two constant jumps to 130 respectively 129 meters, and rewarded themselves with the podium. "I had a good starting position and most of the time I make a good jump then. This already fitted together today", said the German. With the best score in the final Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT, Fischer) improved from ten to four. Stefan Kraft (AUT, Fischer) finished seventh ahead of Peter Prevc and Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer).
