Kaisa Mäkäräinen beaten in blink of an eye final

Kaisa Mäkäräinen (FIN, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) narrowly missed another victory at second biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen (AUT). Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht (RUS, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) surprised as third.

Dorothea Wierer (ITA) and Kaisa Mäkäräinen are the biathletes dominating so far this winter - but the victories in sprint and pursuit at Pokljuka went to the Finn. This time, the Italian succeded, both with the same shooting result: Wierer is by far the fastest shooter, Mäkäräinen clearly the fastest skier. In the end, only 0.6 seconds separated the two athletes. "It's a very good result, I did not feel that strong today so I did not expect a podium. Thus I'm all the happier", said the Finn. Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht made it to the podium with perfect shooting. Monika Hojnisz (POL, Fischer skis and bindings) finished fifth in her second strong race of the season ahead of Irina Kryuko (BLR, Fischer skis and bindings) and Paulina Fialkova (SVK, Fischer skis, bindings and boots). Anastasiya Kuzmina (SVK, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) became tenth.
