Kaisa Mäkäräinen back on the podium

After a long dry spell, Kaisa Mäkäräinen (FIN, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finally made it onto a World Cup podium again. She finished second in Anterselva (ITA) behind surprise winner Marketa Davidova (CZE).

Marketa Davidova had to wait a long time until her surprising victory was finally established. With the very last start number, Laura Dahlmeier (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) stormed along the track after she had started into the first lap more cautiously. After two clean shootings she was seven seconds ahead, but had totally dead leags in her final lap and finished only fourth, four seconds behind. At the finish she collapsed and could only be led away slowly after minutes by doctor and carers. For the award ceremony she was apologized, where Kaisa Mäkäräinen could finally celebrate again. After her pursuit victory at the second World Cup in Hochfilzen she had to survive a long dry spell and was no longer in the top 20. After a shooting error, the Finn started a catch-up to regain eight seconds against Davidova, which she just barely not reached. Monika Hojnisz (POL, Fischer skis and bindings) took sixth place ahead of Svetlana Mironova (RUS, Fischer skis, bindings and boots). Lisa Theresa Hauser (AUT, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished ninth with her best result of the season in front of Anastasiya Kuzmina (SVK, Fischer skis, bindings and boots).
