Eighth win of the season for Jarl Magnus Riiber

Jarl Magnus Riiber (NOR, Fischer ***) leads the World Cup with incredible 960 points after ten competitions. Today he celebrated his eighth win of the season ahead of Jens Lurås Oftebro (NOR Fischer ***).

For Jarl Magnus Riiber it was not a lonely cross-country race this time. After jumping he was only second, a few seconds behind Jens Lurås Oftebro. Both Norwegians started the race at a controlled pace because of their big lead over the fast-skiing athletes, so F-J Rehrl (AUT) was able to catch up with them. However, all other skiers concentrated on the places behind the podium or had to catch up from behind like Jørgen Graabak (NOR, Fischer ***), who was 14th after the jumping round, or Ilkka Herola (FIN, Fischer ***) from 23rd place. On the last climb at the Egli hill before the finish, Jarl Magnus Riiber attacked and took the win in front of his 19-year-old team-mate Oftebro. A large chasing group had formed in the back, from which Jørgen Graabak secured fourth place. Martin Fritz (AUT, Fischer ***) finished sixth ahead of Espen Bjørnstad (NOR, Fischer ***) and Ilkka Herola. Akito Watabe (JPN, Fischer ***) crossed the line in tenth.
