On the extremely icy and challenging course, the 26-year-old Yule was already leading the field after pulling out all the stops in the first run. In run 2 he was able to fend off the challenges of Henrik Kristoffersen and Clement Noel to claim top spot ahead of the Norwegian and the Frenchman.
“It’s always steep here, the snow suits me very well and the equipment works very well on it,” said Yule. His 27th place in Zagreb is now long forgotten. “In Zagreb I was battling all the time, but today everything went really smoothly. I gave it everything from start to finish and I’m pleased that it all worked out,” said the delighted Swiss whose win takes him up to third in the discipline ranking.
Following Yule’s victory, it was two other Fischer athletes who provided the icing on the cake. Tanguy Nef, Yule’s 23-year-old compatriot, produced proof of his tremendous potential by finishing sixth. And ninth place went to that evergreen from South Tyrol, Manfred Mölgg.
Alexander Khoroshilov also showed that he is still a force to be reckoned with, ranking fourth after the first run, although the Russian fell back in run 2 and had to settle for 14th. The Fischer racers are now all set for the next Slalom in Adelboden.
