How would you sum up this year’s Marcialonga in three words?

Kasper: Tough, tricky and fun.

Emilie: Snow, loose tracks and good atmosphere.

How is the feeling after winning Marcialonga?

Kasper: It's emotional - I feel happy, relieved and thankful. This one has been my biggest goal and to actually win it means the world to me.

Emilie: It was a relief too complete one of my biggest goals this season! I really love Marcialonga, and it's always so much fun to perform here.

How did you like the special conditions?

Kasper: I tend to race well in snowy/soft conditions, so I quite enjoyed it.

Emilie: I loved it! I always like it when it's rough conditions and I have good skis.

Do you have any recommendations for hobby skiers, when they face these conditions?

Kasper: Even though it’s difficult, focusing on technique and skiing well is the most important, I think. In the end that’s what saves the most energy and will make you go the fastest from A to B even though it doesn't always feel like it in conditions like this.

Emilie: It gonna take longer time to finish, so eat, drink and have little more clothes on. And take it as a challenge! You gonna feel very proud when you finish!

What was the toughest part for you in this year’s race?

Kasper: The very difficult positioning going down from Val di Fiemme Stadium to Molina. It was so hard to pass other skiers, and I felt I almost lost the race being too far behind when we were going through Masi and Alpe Cermis.

Emilie: I started to freeze when it was about 20 km left. So, I was a little stressed about it. I also puked in Molina, when it was 10 km left, not the best feeling!

What does it mean to you to have a teammate next to you in the leading group?

Kasper: It gives me great confidence. We have been training for so many hours together for the last 6-7 months so having teammates in the critical parts of the race is first of all super cool but also gives us a great advantage in the tactical aspect of the race.

Emilie: It means a lot! When it was conditions like that, it's just one track that works, so it's nice to have a team mate that can let you in on the line again.

How will you recharge your batteries before the next race?

Kasper: Hang out and relax with the team in Seefeld. Hopefully we get some good weather to enjoy some sunny skiing and just make good food and have some good banter.

Emilie: Eat, sleep and do some easy sessions on skis.

What is your next big goal?

Kasper: The next race. I love that in Ski Classics the next race is so different from the one before so it's always a new challenge waiting ahead.

Emilie: We have Jizerska50 as the next big race. But Vasaloppet is my next big goal!
