In a team sprint without three of the best jumpers an exciting ski jumping developed: Jarl Magnus Riiber (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) traveled to Seefeld (AUT) for training and also Franz-Josef Rehrl (AUT) and Akito Watabe (JPN , Fischer skis, bindings and shoes) were spared. Fabian Rießle showed an unusually good jump so that he and his team mate Eric Frenzel sat in the leader's box for a long time, although he was not completely satisfied with his own jump. Their team-mates Vinzenz Geiger and Johannes Rydzek were a bit better, as were Norwegians Jan Schmid and Jørgen Graabak, who started the race 30 seconds ahead of the Germans. With 50 seconds behind followed by a trio consisting of Italy, Austria and Norway.
The Norwegians Schmid and Graabak started out fast into the cross-country race over ten laps of 1.5 kilometers each, but the two German teams worked together and got closer and closer. After the seventh handover, the two pursuers were finally with the Norwegian and from lap eight the Germans took over the command. Schmid and Graabak were able to recover in the slipstream and use these energies successfully in the final sprint. Second place behind the Norwegians, who were able to repeat their victory from 2015, went to Geiger/Rydzek in front of Rießle/Frenzel. Samuel Costa (ITA, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) and Alessandro Pittin (ITA) missed the desired podium in front of their home crowd in fourth. Rank five went to Austrians Greiderer/Klapfer ahead of Magnus Krog (NOR) and Espen Bjørnstad (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots).
