Markus Eisenbichler moves up from eight to two

Markus Eisenbichler (GER, Fischer) celebrated at his home World Cup in Willingen (GER) a podium finish after two mixed jumps.

Actually everything looked after the first round, as if Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer) once again would have to pull for the Fischer team chestnuts out of the fire and keep at least his third place. But the 31-year-old fluffed his final jump completely, was far too late at the take-off and wobbled at the landing. The podium was lost, Kamil Stoch was only seventh. Meanwhile, Markus Eisenbichler started his catch-up from eighth, although he jumped with a strong headache and therefore did not really want to give interviews. With jumping 140 and 141,5 meters he claimed second place. After his success he said: "I did not really expect that. I knew it was tight, but I was only eighth. And the jump was not the top jump, there was again a problem after the take-off. I am now overjoyed with second place and can go home satisfied." Team colleague Richard Freitag (GER, Fischer) was happy with him, even though he narrowly missed the podium in fourth place - Karl Geiger (GER, Fischer) was the third best German in sixth. Stefan Kraft (AUT, Fischer) could not show his usual performance in both jumps and finished tenth.
