Maren Lundby runner-up in Sapporo

Maren Lundby (NOR, Fischer) secured second place in a competition with a lot of headwind. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT, Fischer) finished third.

For Maren Lundby today the goal in the final was actually only to secure second place behind Eva Pinkelnig (AUT), who was already 18 points ahead after her first great jump. In a competition in which the headwind became stronger during the first and second round, the Norwegian did not get along so well in the first round and landed after 121.5 meters. In the final it went better and she pulverized her old hill record with a jump to 139.5 meters. Therefore she managed to secure an unchallenged second place behind Eva Pinkelnig, who is already the third Austrian maiden winner after Chiara Hölzl (AUT, Fischer) and yesterday Sara Marita Kramer (AUT, Fischer). Daniela Iraschko-Stolz, who was only twelfth after the first round, showed a great jump to 135.5 meters in the final, which brought her a podium finish. Chiara Hölzl missed the podium in fourth. Sixth place went to Yuki Ito (JPN, Fischer) ahead of Silje Opseth (NOR, Fischer) and Marita Kramer.
