German ski jumping girls dominate team competition in Zao

Juliane Seyfarth, Ramona Straub (both GER), Carina Vogt and Katharina Althaus (both GER, Fischer) celebrated a souvereign victory in team competition in Zao (JPN). Second place went to Austrians Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (AUT, Fischer), Eva Pinkelnig (AUT), Chiara Hölzl and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (both AUT, Fischer) in front of the Japanese girls Yuki Ito (JPN), Yuka Seto (JPN, Fischer), Kaori Iwabuchi and Sara Takanashi (both JPN).

The German quartet was in a class of its own today in Zao. With little wind for the Japanese jumping hills, the team was already ahead after the first round with 40 points, but weaker jumps of Carina Vogt and especially Ramona Straub in the final ensured that the Austrians again came up to nine points. Katharina Althaus was able to counter with the second longest jump of the day at 97.5 meters (Maren Lundby 98 meters) after Daniela Iraschko-Stolz landed at 91.5 meters after a mistake at the take-off. After eight jumps 27.4 points were between Germany and Austria. Third place was won by the celebrated local heroes from Japan, but 50 points behind Austria. The Norwegians Anna Odine Strøm, Ingebjørg Saglien Bråten, Silje Opseth and Maren Lundby (all NOR, Fischer) finished fourth.
