Thanks to an outstanding Karl Geiger in the first starting group, who showed the two furthest jumps of the day on 129 and 130 meters, the German team was already 13 points ahead of Poland after the first group. Although Richard Freitag was clearly the weakest German with 121 and 120 meters, he was able to extend the lead further and after the first round the quartet was 25 points ahead of Austria. Now the athletes were able to jump relaxed and after the final round they were even 57 points ahead of the silver medalists from Austria, where Daniel Huber showed the longest jumps. "I never thought that everything would work out so well again, I was hoping for it, but the fact that it fits so sensationally is unbelievable!", said double world champion Markus Eisenbichler. "I was nervous at the last jump, but I knew I just had to show a clean jump. That's great for the whole team to have won gold. I did not know how much ahead we are, because I totally was in my tunnel. I knew we had a lead, but I just made my own jump." Bronze went to the Japanese team, in which this time Junshiro was the best jumper ahead of his little brother Ryoyu. Fourth place went to Poland ahead of Norway - but there were each ten points between second and fifth place.
