I do not lose. Either I win or I learn: Frida Karlsson profile

Twenty-two year old Frida Karlsson, who has signed another two-year contract with Fischer skis and boots, is one of the brightest young talents on the FIS Cross Country World Cup circuit. The Swedish skier’s breakthrough international appearance came at the 2019 World Championships in Seefeld, Austria where she placed second in the 10km classic race, third in the 30km skate race, and was a part of the gold medal winning 4x5km relay team.

Since the Seefeld World Championships Frida has won more world championship medals and World Cup podiums, including a win over the dominant Therese Johaug at the Holmenkollen 30km classic in March of 2020.

Frida has been the subject of Fischer #livetoski videos in the past, and now we’re excited to introduce her to our audience through a brief interview.

What are the top 3 things we should know about you?

 1.  I am used to walk my own path, sometimes it’s a shortcut but more likely the opposite.

 2. I always have my tounge out as I am focused, as you should have seen by now.

 3. I am the ski team Sweden’s first and only hairdresser. Only one fail so far!

Favorite Quote or Personal Motto?Favorite Quote or Personal Motto?

I do not loose. Either I win or I learn.

Biggest breakthrough in your ski career?

That’s without doubt 2019 Worldchampionship in Seefeldt. I had no expectations and came home with three medals.

Favorite pastime / hobbies (besides skiing, of course)?

I like to do whatever the surronding offers! Whether I’m in nature or a city, I like to explore new things. When home I love to play golf, cook dinner for friends and family or just relax in the sun between trainings. I prefer to spend my life outdoors.

Where have you not been that you want to go to (preferably for skiing)?

It would be crazy to go skiing in Australia, that’s definitely something on my bucketlist.

Future goals/projects/dreams/ambitions (doesn’t have to be in skiing)?

I would love to own and run a hotel. I would do everything from making breakfast in the morning to host fun events and parties.

Who do you consider to be a current mentor or role model?

My coach Per. The everyday grind of being a skiier is not always glorious, but Per makes it fun and inspiring.

What advice would you give yourself at the beginning of your competitive career?

Not too much. My past and coming mistakes are what’s taking me further.

Or maybe - don’t do chins in a Hotel doorway. :)
