Vinzenz Geiger gets his first World Cup victory ahead of Johannes Rydzek and Akito Watabe

Vinzenz Geiger (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) was able to celebrate his first victory in the World Cup in the Fiemme Valley (ITA). Johannes Rydzek (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished second ahead of Akito Watabe (JPN, Fischer skis, bindings and boots).

In a ski jumping event under changeable conditions with rotating wind Franz Josef Rehrl (AUT) lived up to his reputation as the best jumper again and he started the race 34 seconds ahead of a group with fast skiers like Akito Watabe, Vinzenz Geiger and Johannes Rydzek. Already at the beginning of the second lap, the Austrian was caught, a little later at the Brink rise the two Germans attacked and escaped from the others. The decision about the win was made in the Zorzi climb just before the stadium, as Geiger attacked and Rydzek was not able to follow. For Vinzenz Geiger it was his first World Cup victory, after which he did not have many words: "It's outstanding, a perfect day, really cool!" Behind Johannes Rydzek Akito Watabe took the last podium place. Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) moved up to fifth and outsprinted Jørgen Graabak (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) in the final sprint. Ilkka Herola (FIN, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) came in seventh, ninth went to Terence Weber (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots).
