While the nordic combined athletes had mostly gusty wind from the front in the morning, the ski jumpers fought with the tail wind in the afternoon, for which the inrun length was at a minimum. Many athletes had problems with the low speed and towards the end of the first round the conditions got worse, but especially Karl Geiger showed an excellent jump and was in the lead after the first round. In the final he felt so strong that the slight tail wind added up over the entire flight did not bother him and it even felt like headwind. "I gave everything and hit the take-off table really well. The headwind carried me well. I'm in good shape and I'm really happy. The style points could be better, I usually show a good landing - except now in the final. I lose usually two points on Stephan [Leyhe] or Krafti [Stefan Kraft]. It's always annoying." Stefan Kraft jumped a total of seven meters shorter and was six points behind in second place followed by his team-mate Michael Hayböck.
