Bø and Kuzmina win first mass start

Johannes Thingnes Bø (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) left his opponents no chance with his 25th World Cup victory. In the mass start in Nove Mesto na Morave (CZE), Quentin Fillon Maillet (FRA, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) and Evgeniy Garanichev (RUS, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) took the podium positions. Anastasiya Kuzmina (SVK, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) won the mass start with her first world-class performance this winter. Paulina Fialkova (SVK, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) came in second.

Johannes Thingnes Bø continues his winning series in the last race before Christmas. In the mass start he shot clean four times and was unbeatable. One minute behind the leader Quentin Fillon Maillet on the final lap, the Frenchman did not give Evgeniy Garanichev a chance in the second-place battle. Ondrej Moravec (CZE, Fischer skis and bindings) finished eighth.

For the Christmas break Anastasiya Kuzmina announced a decision whether or not to continue her biathlon career in January. Today's victory, in which she finally missed not too many targets, should be a clear statement to continue. With two penalties and first-class skiing, the native Russian, who achieved all her successes for Slovakia, claimed her first victory of the season. She also put a lot of pressure on the third and fourth laps and opened a small lead. After her missed shot in the last standing stage, the overall World Cup leader Dorothea Wierer (ITA) also took a lot of time for her own shooting, but also had to go into the penalty loop, so that both went into the final lap at the same time. There Kuzmina played her skiing power and was happy about the relatively clear victory in the end. The Italian was even overtaken by Paulina Fialkova, who was out of the shooting range almost 20 seconds later, so that for the first time a Slovak double victory in biathlon was celebrated. Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots), who only started after resigning of Laura Dahlmeier (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots), showed a very good race despite three shooting misses and the fourth fastest ski time and was rewarded with sixth place. Franziska Preuß (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) was beaten by her in the final sprint. Eighth place went to Justine Braisaz (FRA, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) ahead of Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht (RUS, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) and Hanna Öberg (SWE, Fischer skis, bindings and boots).
