Third place for Thomas Fanara in Adelboden

Thomas Fanara finished in third place in the Adelboden Giant Slalom on Saturday. He made it to the podium for the second time this season thanks to a sensational second run on the Chuenisbärgli hill in the Swiss skiing mecca.

Fanara was clearly delighted with his third place: "I knew that all the racers were quite close to each other before the second run. I simply had to do my best. This is what I tried to do and I pushed myself to the limit the whole time. It was also my last race in Adelboden, so I tried to savour every moment on the course. That helped me today."

Stefan Brennsteiner's confidence is also growing after recovering from a torn ligament. The Austrian racer finished 18th with bib 35. This means he could also be a contender for the Austrian Ski Federation team at the WSC in Åre.

"My second run was quite OK, I found an even better setup, everything was that bit easier," said Brennsteiner, who picked up his first points in a Giant Slalom this season.

Sunday was Slalom day. Swiss Fischer racer Daniel Yule finished among the top ten with eighth place in extreme weather conditions at times and a demanding slope. Manfred Mölgg finished the race in 13th ahead of another Fischer Race Family athlete, Aleksandr Khoroshilov.

The men's World Cup entourage is staying in Switzerland for the coming week and moving on to Wengen for the Lauberhorn. The women will be making their way to Kronplatz.
