These young athletes are well on their way to becoming the best in the world and will complement the powerful veterans on the Fischer team over the coming seasons. The fixed starters and up-and-comers include both the stars of tomorrow and some well-known names.
Three Fischer athletes who have secured places on the World Cup grid for this season come from Switzerland. The 22-year-old Swiss Fadri Janutin, who has plenty of ambition but is also proud of his "rough edges," secured his World Cup ticket with a second-place finish in the European Cup. He narrowly missed out on another fixed starting place with his fourth-place finish in the slalom.
Additionally, Noel von Grünigen, a teammate and a friend of Janutin, is slated to join the Fischer World Cup squad after earning second place in the European Slalom Cup. It's no wonder that the eldest son of former Fischer World Champion Michael von Grünigen has opted for a professional career on Fischer. After all, the young von Grünigen was already skiing on Fischer skis at the age of two.
Third in the group is the already-established Simona Wild, who fans already know from a number of successful World Cup starts. Two years ago, however, the giant slalom specialist was stopped by a serious knee injury. On her return last year, she made it onto the European Cup podium and showed that she is once again a force to be reckoned with for the coming World Cup season.
The Swiss Fischer athlete will receive support from neighboring France. With two podium finishes and two further top-ten placings in the European Cup, 23-year-old Parand Loevan managed third place in the Giant Slalom standings and a place on the World Cup Tour.
22-year-old Austrian Nina Astner can be pleased with a successful comeback with Fischer. After a break due to injury, she immediately managed to catch up with the competition again with a third-place in the Giant Slalom European Cup standings. What came as a surprise to many after the injury was always a clear goal for Nina. "I will work hard day after day to achieve my big goal: I'm going to be a ski racer!"
A World Cup ticket for Fischer is also heading north next season: Elsa Fermbäck skied a very strong season with five podium finishes in the slalom, earning an overall third place in the European Cup slalom. Together with Lisa Nyberg, the daughter of former Fischer athlete Frederic Nyberg, Fermbäck moves up into the Swedish women's World Cup group.
There is plenty of new faces on the Fischer team. And with the brand-new racing boots and skis unveiled last winter, Fischer can now demonstrate even better that the brand is faithfully pursuing its vision: "To be the athletes' first choice". With the existing World Cup team consisting of two great Kitzbühel winners, Daniel Yule from Switzerland and Britain's Dave Ryding, as well as Stefan Brennsteiner, Ramona Siebenhofer, Katharina Truppe, plus the up-and-comers from the European Cup, Fischer can rely on a solid foundation to maintain a fast presence on the tour.
