If you can dream it, you can do it: Ebba Andersson

Ebba Andersson has been cross-country skiing since she was a child: Skiing is all part of her life. At the World Championships in Lahti in 2017, still as a junior, she made her international breakthrough with the silver medal in the relay. Since then, the likeable Swede, who describes herself as a " foodie," has become an unmissable member of the world's cross-country skiing elite.

When did you start skiing?

When I was a little kid my parents took me out in the ski tracks, but it wasn’t until I was around 8 years old I found the interest in skiing by myself. From that time, cross-country skiing has been a big part of my life.

What was your dream job when you were a child?

Like many other kids I had so many dreams and dream jobs. One of them was to become a professional skier, so nowadays I live one of the dreams I had as a kid.

What was your biggest breakthrough in your ski career?

Hmm…. It is hard to pick out what kind of moment that can be classified as my biggest breakthrough, but maybe when I skied the third leg in the relay in the World Championships in Lahti 2017 is a good one. Our team managed to win a silver medal in that relay and I was still a junior at that time. A big moment for a teenager.

What are your favorite hobbies (besides skiing, of course)?

I really like to spend some time with my family, my boyfriend, and my friends. Especially in combination with some really good food.

Where have you not been that you want to go to?

I have the Maldives as a place that I want to check on my bucket list.

What are the top 3 things we should know about you?

From all the things that I think you should know about me, I want to pick out these 3 things:

1. I call myself a foodie since I enjoy eating and cooking good food.

2. One of my favorite spots to spend some time is my family’s cottage in the middle of Sweden. During my childhood, this was the place to be during summertime.

3. An important person in my life is my 1.5 year younger brother Fredrik. He is also a professional cross-country skier just like me, so we support and help each other a lot. And have some fun together at the same time.

If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

If that situation would come up for me, then I would really prefer some kind of breakfast food. It is then easy to find some variation and I really love breakfast.

What is your favorite quote or personal motto?

I am really a sucker for different kind of quotes/mottos. “Great minds think alike…”, “If you can dream it, you can do it” and “Fake it until you make it” are 3 good ones.

What advice would you give others at the beginning of their competitive career?

My biggest advice would be to believe in yourself and the different choices you make on the way.

What does #livetoski mean to you?

#livetoski is a mindset showing us that skiing is so much more than just a sport. It is life.
