Markus Eisenbichler made a podium again

Markus Eisenbichler (GER, Fischer) finished the World Cup season with a third place in the Schanzen valley in Planica (SLO). Unfortunately he could not defend his narrow lead in the Ski Flying World Cup and had to let Ryoyu Kobayashi (JPN) take the lead at the end.

An imperfect first jump to 227 meters, which meant fourth place, was the reason that Markus Eisenbichler could no longer seriously challenge Ryoyu Kobayashi today. With his gesture he showed that he considered the ski flying World Cup as lost - even without knowing at that time that the Japanese had recently flown 252 meters. Nevertheless, he wanted to attack again in the final and make it onto the podium, which also succeeded with a great jump to 235 meters. Just behind Domen Prevc (SLO) the German took third place: "Just great. I thought now, I'll make the second jump better and more punctual at the take-off and enjoy the last flight. I'm happy that it is over now and I have time for family and friends, I'm sure I will not get bored. I have to come to terms with the season now, I've always thought only from competition to competition and have not yet realized the successes." His compatriot Karl Geiger (GER, Fischer) finished seventh with also a good performance.
