Tore Bjørseth Berdal and Kari Vikhagen Gjeitnes win Marcialonga

For the first time in his career, Tore Bjørseth Berdal (Team Koteng, ***) won the Marcialonga, ahead of Tord Asle Gjerdalen and Petter Eliassen (both Team Ragde Eiendom, ***). In the women's race Kari Vikhagen Gjeitnes (Team Koteng, ***) was unbeatable and also won the race for the first time.

For the women, as well as for the men, the decision was made at the last climb, the "Cascata". After an exciting fight for the positions on the final climb, Tore Bjørseth Berdal was the strongest in the end and won 1.5 seconds ahead of Tord Asle Gjedalen and 2.7 seconds ahead of Petter Eliassen. "It's amazing. I've never thought so. I didn't have a good feeling at all this season and I couldn't train much in December because I wasn't feeling well. But today it just clicked. I had perfect skis and my body felt incredibly good. Overall it was an extremely good day for the whole team," said winner Tore Bjørseth Berdal.

His teammate Kari Vikhagen Gjeitnes, who was also able to celebrate her very first victory in a VISMA Ski Classics race, was also overjoyed: "This was a dream for me, and it is incredible that it came true. We had extremely good skis today and were able to ski with the men, which helped us a lot. We practice double poling, so it's no problem to push up the last uphill, but now I'm actually very tired, but happy".

With his second place today, Tord Asle Gjerdalen takes the lead in the VISMA Ski Classics overall standings. With Andreas Nygaard (Team Ragde Eiendom, ***), Morten Eide Pedersen (Team Kaffebryggeriet, ***), Andreas Holmberg (Camp 157 Ski Team, ***), Vetle Thyli (Team Kaffebryggeriet, ***) in fourth to seventh place and Chris Andre Jespersen (Team Koteng, ***) in tenth place, five more Fischer athletes have joined the top ten in the daily standings.
