Stina Nilsson (SWE, Fischer skis and bindings) did not compete in the final after being injured in the semifinals. The Swede made a long finish step, in which she stretched the leg very far. Immediately you could see the pain in her face and she had to be led out of the finish area. Nevertheless, she wanted to compete in the final despite her pain, but her team did not allow it. "She had thigh pain when she crashed to the finish, we suspect a soft tissue injury, and we'll wait a few days to see how long it takes to heal the injury," said physical therapist Marcus Bystedt on Swedish television.
In the final of the men there was also a duel throughout the race - this time between Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and Alexander Bolshunov (RUS), who advanceddespite a fall in the semifinals to the final. Klæbo did not save any energies today as it had seen in other sprints this season. This time he raced all heats confidently from the lead and was in the final at high speed sometimes directly behind the Russian, sometimes besides him and attacked in the last climb, where he gained the decisive lead. "Bolshunov is very strong, he has always skiing with very high pace. It's cool to win again, I like Otepää very much, this is where I celebrated my first World Cup victory", said Klæbo. Eirik Brandsdal (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished fourth and Erik Valnes (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) sixth.
