Johannes Thingnes Bø wins silver again

Johannes Thingnes Bø (NOR, Fischer ***) was beaten by another Frenchman in the individual competition and won his second silver medal in Antholz (ITA). Dominik Landertinger (AUT, Fischer **) surprised with bronze.

In the pursuit on Sunday, Johannes Thingnes Bø had to give way to Emilien Jacquelin (FRA) in the final lap in the fight for the title, today it was Martin Fourcade (FRA) who took the victory. The Frenchman made it exciting again with a penalty minute on the last shooting, but the Norwegian could not take the chance: Despite a penalty minute from the first prone stage, it would have been very tight because the Norwegian already gained a minute in skiing on the Frenchman at that point - but another miss sealed the silver medal for the fast Norwegian. Dominik Landertinger surprisingly made it onto the podium and secured the bronze medal. After his intervertebral disc surgery in autumn 2017, the Austrian had never returned to his old capabilities. Also this winter he had to miss two World Cups, his best result so far this winter was a 21st place at the individual in Östersund. Almost everything went perfectly today at least at the shooting range, but even if he hadn't missed the last target, his poor skiing performance would have given him no chance for more than silver. Jakov Fak (SLO, Fischer ***) missed the bronze medal by just eight seconds with the same shooting performance. Tarjei Bø (NOR, Fischer ***) came in sixth with three misses ahead of Quentin Fillon Maillet (FRA, Fischer ***) and Leif Nordgren (USA, Fischer ***), the only athlete with 20 hits. Johannes Dale (NOR, Fischer ***) finished ninth.
