A day to remember in Chamonix

Daniel Yule achieves something historic in the slalom in Chamonix. He is the first skier ever to make the leap from 30th place in the first run to 1st place in the second run and thus wins his first slalom of the season.

What a spectacle at the 8th slalom of the season. Spring-like conditions made the race on Sunday a difficult task for the athletes and their service staff. And as is the case, sometimes a little luck is part of the equation.
After a mediocre first run, Daniel Yule had to tremble for a long time until he was certain that he would also be allowed to compete in the second run. With the very last possible place, the Swiss, who was in 30th place, just managed to get his ticket for the second run.

With the temperatures rising sharply, it quickly became clear that a front starting position in the second run could be a huge advantage. The warming snow and the rapidly deteriorating quality of the race course made the course more of a challenge for every next athlete starting. Yule did a brilliant job as the first runner to set a proper benchmark for all the athletes to come. Gradually, it became clear what was possible on this day. Even if you couldn't have imagined until the end that it would really be enough to win, this sensation happened in the end.

Daniel Yule was thus able to achieve something historic. He is the first skier ever to reach the top of the podium after a 30th place in the first run and will forever be written in the history books of this sport with this achievement.
Congratulations, Daniel!

The rest of the #fischerracefamily also delivered a solid performance. Dominik Raschner confirmed his exceptional form and took 5th place, Dave Ryding finished the race in 11th place, closely followed by AJ Ginnis in 12th, Kirstoffer Jakobsen in 19th, Luca Aerni in 22nd and Jett Seymour in 28th.
