Simon Ammann is back on the podium

After a long time, Simon Ammann has made it onto a World Cup podium again. In ski flying at the Kulm in Bad Mitterndorf (AUT) he finished third.

Simon Ammann is back! After three years break and many fiddling with the material, the Swiss is back on the podium. The four-time Olympic champion tested in view of his recent Olympic Games on a new shoe, but put it away after weaker jumps during the Four Hills Tournament. After 218 meters in the first round and 227.5 meters in the final Simon Ammann cheered in the outrun as if he had the victory already sure - after all, he was on the podium again. This third place behind two Norwegians is the first podium since March 2015 on the normal hill in Kuopio (FIN). "I had a crazy time during the 4-Hills-Tournament. Previously I couldn't always show my good training performances also in the competition. That it worked so well today is really good for me, the moment you realize you are on the podium is fantastic. I've had difficult days here on the Kulm before and so I really enjoy these good days. I don't have any big goals for tomorrow, because at my age I'm already happy when the legs work well", he said. Just as great was the joy of Noriaki Kasai (JPN, Fischer), who can no longer retrieve the results of recent years. Today he finished fifth ahead of Peter Prevc (SLO, Fischer). Stefan Kraft (AUT, Fischer) came in ninth place ahead of Markus Eisenbichler (GER, Fischer).
