German biathletes triumph in Ruhpolding

Franziska Preuss, Denise Herrmann (both GER, Fischer skis and boots), Franziska Hildebrand (GER) and Laura Dahlmeier (GER, Fischer skis and boots) won women's relay in Ruhpolding. Second place went to Italy with their final skier Federica Sanfilippo (ITA, Fischer skis and boots) ahead of the Swedes with Linn Persson (SWE, Fischer) and Hanna Öberg (SWE, Fischer skis and boots).

With the exception of Franziska Hildebrand, who made her team dropping back due to falls and pole losses, Germany and Italy were the dominating teams of the day: Germany faster in skiing, Italy better at the shooting range. So the decision had to be made by the final skier. Federica Sanfilippo and Laura Dahlmeier started together in the last lap and the German attacked in the uphill, so that she was able to open a small gap and bring the victory home. Third place went to Sweden followed by the Norwegians with Tiril Eckhoff and Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (both NOR, Fischer skis and boots). Just behind them, the Poles Monika Hojnisz, Magdalena Gwizdon, Krystyna Guzik and Weronika Nowakowska (all POL, Fischer) finished fifth.
