France dominates men's biathlon relay

Emilien Jacquelin (FRA), Martin Fourcade (FRA), Simon Desthieux (FRA) and Quentin Fillon Maillet (FRA, Fischer ***) celebrated a confident relay victory in Ruhpolding (GER) ahead of the Norwegians Johannes Dale (NOR, Fischer *** ), Erlend Bjøntegaard (NOR), Tarjei Bø (NOR, Fischer ***) and Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen (NOR) as well as the Austrians Dominik Landertinger (AUT, Fischer **), Simon Eder (AUT), Felix Leitner (AUT, Fischer ***) and Julian Eberhard (AUT, Fischer ***).

The key to success today was a strong Martin Fourcade, who extended the ten-second lead from the first exchange by more than a minute: The Frenchman shot perfectly and showed an outstanding skiing shape, with which the newly father Johannes Thingnes Bø (NOR, Fischer ***) would have had his problems. Fourcade's colleagues only had to bring the lead to the finish, which Quentin Fillon Maillet did despite some shooting errors. Second place went to the Norwegians, who were already 50 seconds behind due to the standing stage of Johannes Dale, but he was able to halve this backlos before handing over to Fourcade. Behind France, it was an exciting race between Norway, Austria and Russia, between which there were usually only a few seconds. Thanks to a perfect final shooting Julian Eberhard secured third place behind Norway and also just a few seconds ahead of the Russians Evgeny Garanichev (RUS, Fischer ***), Matvey Eliseev (RUS), Eduard Latypov (RUS, Fischer ***) and Alexander Loginov (RUS, Fischer ***).
