When you’re downie, eat a brownie: Ida Dahl

Ida Dahl not only switched professional ski teams for the 22l23 season, joining Team Engcon, but she also switched equipment suppliers and began using Fischer skis, bindings and boots. The 26 year old Swede has been racing the Visma Ski Classics Tour since 2019 and claimed the achievement of finishing second overall in the Tour standings at the end of the 2022 season. Additionally at the end of the season she was the top young skier, 3rd in the climbing standings, and 5th in the sprint standings.

Highlights from Ida Dahl's Ski Classics career include a win at the 2022 Diagonela, and a win at the famed Marcialonga in the same season. In 2021 she placed third at her home country’s most prestigious race, the Vasaloppet.

Welcome in the #FischerRaceFamily! How come you decided to work with Fischer?

Fischer has always been at the forefront of its industry and especially in long distance skiing. This made it feel very natural to start working together.

What attracts you to ski such long distances?

I like that it is a bigger and more exciting challenge to be able to complete the races in a good way, and to compete woman against woman.

What do you expect from the future of long distance skiing?

I think both the interest among skiers and spectators will increase in the coming years. For the “ordinary” exercisers, it is easier to relate to us long distance skiers since they often go the same races, which I think contributes to an increased interest.

You changed your team, will you also change your training?

No, I will continue with my training approach together with Mattias Reck as I think it has worked very well.

What are the top 3 things we should know about you?

1. My favorite dish is Japanese cabbage pancake

2. I'm studying to be an engineer in industrial economics.

3. I’m a morning person.

Personal quote or motto?

When you’re downie, eat a brownie.

Biggest breakthrough in your ski career?

When I won Marcialonga 2022.

Favorite pastime / hobbies (besides skiing, of course)?

Meeting with my friends and family, looking at series or playing paddle or other activities.

Where have you not been that you want to go to (preferably for skiing)?

I have never been to Seiser Alm but would really like to go there!

Future goals/projects/dreams/ambitions (doesn’t have to be in skiing)?

My goal in my skiing career is to win Vasaloppet and win the yellow bib, besides that I would like to travel thru USA again and by a house.

Who do you consider to be a current mentor or role model?

Max Verstappen, I really like his mentality and focus whenever he is competing. Fearless and harsh.

Fischer looks forward to partnering with Ida Dahl and wishes her tremendous success and best of luck as she trains for and begins the 22l23 Visma Ski Classics Season.
