What can we expect in a World Cup winter without the Nordic World Championships? So much! You don't have to worry about the threat of boredom. Traditionally, the 19l20 season opens in Wisla (POL), Ruka (FIN), and Östersund (SWE). After the first World Cups, the traditional Four Hills Tournament with popular tour stops in Oberstdorf, Garmisch (both GER), Innsbruck and Bischofshofen (both AUT). 2019 concludes with the Tour de Ski on New Year's Eve. The latter stops this year in Lenzerheide (SUI), Toblach (ITA) and Val di Fiemme (ITA). New this year on the last day of Tour de Ski, everyone will tackle the final climb, the ski slope up to Alpe Cermis, in a mass start.
From February 12th to 23rd, the Biathlon World Championships will take place in Antholz (ITA) for the sixth time. The athletes of the Fischer Race Family will hopefully be at the forefront again in the awarding of the 66 medals. At the same time, the Scandinavian Tour of the cross country skiers is new in the program: The winners will be determined over six stages through Sweden and Norway. This alone is nothing new, but the athletes will take the train from one tour stop to the next. Also, races where start and finish are not together, and the athletes have to feed themselves on the way they have to be mastered.
It will be interesting to see who wins out at the end of a long season. The nordic combined athletes are the first to honor their overall World Cup winner on March 15th in Schonach (GER). One week later, in Oslo, the biathletes will bring the curtain down on their winter season. Chaikovsky (Rus) will host the female ski jumpers as they end their World Cup challenge, and cross country skiers will again hold their season finals in Canada. The ski jumpers will be awarding the overall World Cup in Vikersund (NOR) one week before the end of the season. The Ski Flying World Championships in Planica (SLO) from March 20th to 22nd, will be adding a professional final to crown the season. We wish all Fischer athletes much success!
