Silver and bronze for Martin Johnsrud Sundby and Niklas Dyrhaug

In the classic style race over 15 kilometers Martin Johnsrud Sundby (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) missed the long awaited World Championship title again. He won silver, bronze went to Niklas Dyrhaug (NOR, Fischer). Iivo Niskanen (FIN) was able to secure his first ever World Championship title with anger in his belly after the crash in teamsprint.

Martin Johnsrud Sundby still has to wait for his gold medal at World Championships. Even though it did not work out this time, the Norwegian obviously was quite satisfied with the Finnish winner and had to acknowledge he was the best today. The Norwegian was able to regain a few seconds during the last kilometers and finally crossed the finish line with 18 seconds backlog. Bronze went to Niklas Dyrhaug who had the most energies by far in the end of the race out of the quartet who was still fighting for the medal in round two. Both Norwegians celebrated with the Finn and carried him on their shoulders. With Andrey Larkov (RUS, Fischer skis and boots) and Didrik Tønseth (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) two athletes shared the place on the chair of the leader for a few minutes, but the Russian was temporarily disqualified for non-compliance with the classic technique, so that fifth place went the Norwegian alone. After a discussion between Larkov and the jury it was decided to change the disqualification into a written reprimand. Alexey Poltoranin (KAZ, Fischer) became seventh and Johan Olsson (SWE, Fischer) ninth ahead of Calle Halfvarsson (SWE, Fischer).
