Vince Kriechmayr picks up where he left off and wins WSC bronze in Downhill

Two races, two medals – this result is certainly one to be proud of! Three days after WSC silver in Super G and in extremely difficult conditions, speed ace Vincent Kriechmayr skied his way to the bronze medal behind the two Norwegians Kjetil Jansrud and Aksel Lund Svindal in the men's Downhill in Åre on Saturday. Just 0.33 seconds separated Kriechmayr from first place in the end.

"The goal was a medal and now I've got two of them," said a delighted Kriechmayr about what is also the second medal for Austria in Åre. "It was really a crazy race, but I'm very happy now that it finished the way it did. I skied really well and am incredibly pleased with my performance. The fact that it was enough for a medal makes it even better."

His run was "super, one of my best on that hill," added the Upper Austrian. The two medals in Åre are the first so far in his career. "There is of course one above silver, but I got the maximum out of today, more wouldn't have been possible," explained the Wengen winner.

The two US speed racers in the Fischer Race Family, Bryce Bennett and Steven Nyman, finished in ninth and 23rd.
