Kaisa Mäkäräinen sovereign sprint winner

Kaisa Mäkäräinen (FIN, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) is the winner of the first sprint this winter on Pokljuka plateau (SLO). Justine Braisaz (FRA, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) came in third.

Kaisa Mäkäräinen was again by far the fastest skier among the biathletes. Denise Herrmann (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots), who are otherwise equally fast on the skis, had problems with the shin muscles and missed the pursuit after three penalties. When Mäkäräinen scored all ten targets without a mistake, she could not be beaten anymore. After a miserable individual competition Justine Braisaz was happy with a successful sprint and the first podium. Paulina Fialkova (SVK, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) confirmed hersignificant performance leap this winter with sixth place after a shooting mistake. Olena Pidhrushna (UKR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished seventh ahead of Evgeniya Pavlova (RUS, Fischer skis and bindings). Franziska Preuß and Anna Weidel (both GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished ninth and tenth.
