Riiber triumphs followed by three teammates

For the second time in a row, Jarl Magnus Riiber is in a class of his own for the entire season and prematurely won the overall World Cup with his next victory. Jens Lurås Oftebro (NOR, Fischer ***) finished second in Trondheim (NOR) ahead of Espen Bjørnstad (NOR, Fischer ***) and Jørgen Graabak (NOR, Fischer ***).

It was only a matter of form: With his victory today, Jarl Magnus Riiber won the overall World Cup for the second time in a row with a clear lead. Already after jumping he had a reassuring lead after his coach decided to shorten the inrun length by two gates. He jumped six meters further than the required 131 meters to receive the bonus points for the shortened inrun length and went 25 seconds ahead of Martin Fritz (AUT, Fischer ***) and 29 seconds before Bjørnstad into the cross crountry race. Nevertheless, he was cautious as usual: "A lot can still happen while skiing, and the weather could change again. Of course, the ski has to be top. We'll see what happens." In cross-country skiing, he extended his lead to 50 seconds by the middle of the race before taking it a little relaxter. Behind him, Oftebro and Bjørnstad formed a chase duo, after Martin Fritz crashed in the stadium after four kilometers and the lactate came into his legs and it took him a while to regain speed. In the chasing group, Jørgen Graabak tried several times to break away from Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer ***) and the other athletes, but he only succeeded at the beginning of the last lap. He finished fourth behind Riiber, Oftebro and Bjørnstad. Eric Frenzel came in fifth, Martin Fritz seventh. Vinzenz Geiger (GER, Fischer ***) improved from 16 to 8.
