Jarl Magnus Riiber dominates in Trondheim

Jarl Magnus Riiber (NOR, Fischer ***) completely dominated the first competition at the World Cup in Trondheim. Jørgen Graabak (NOR, Fischer ***) finished second ahead of Ilkka Herola (FIN, Fischer ***).

Ski jumping and cross-country skiing in Trondheim were influenced by capricious weather. Before the ski jump started, it was snowing heavily, and there was initially gusty headwind, which later turned into light tail and cross winds. Jarl Magnus Riiber was not deterred and jumped only three meters less than Ryota Yamamoto (JPN, Fischer ***), who had two gates more inrun length. 31 seconds ahead of his brother Harald Johnas Riiber (NOR, Fischer ***) and 38 seconds ahead of Yamamoto, Jarl Magnus Riiber went into the cross-country race, in which heavy snowfall also started shortly before the start. For Jarl Riiber it was still an easy win with a lead of more than a minute. As 17th and 14th after the jump, Jørgen Graabak and Ilkka Herola made up a few seconds, but knew beforehand that they no longer had to think about winning. The Norwegian took second place in front of the Finn on the home stretch. Martin Fritz (AUT, Fischer ***) lost two places and finished sixth ahead of Espen Bjørnstad (NOR, Fischer ***), Jens Lurås Oftebro (NOR, Fischer ***) and Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer *** ), each of them reached the finish with a gap of about ten seconds.
