Fischer restricted its business in Russia

As a company that employs more than half of its workforce at production sites in Ukraine, Fischer has been particularly moved by Russian aggression towards its neighboring country. As a result, sales activities in Russia have been severely restricted and all investments stopped.

Fischer has been operating a major production facility in Ukraine for over 30 years in addition to its headquarters in Ried im Innkreis, Austria. This factory is in the city of Mukachevo, located in the western Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, 750km from Kiev.

Rebuilt after a large fire in 2020, the ski production plant in Ukraine was completed and put into operation in the first half of 2022, despite the start of the war. Currently, around 100 of the employees in Mukachevo have been drafted to serve in the army. Due to the long-standing economic and personal connections with the country as well as the colleagues on site, the conflict affects Fischer economically - and above all humanly - particularly strongly.

The states of the Russian Federation had been an important sales market for Fischer since the 1980s, which was served by its own sales office in Moscow. After considering all the arguments, Fischer decided to severely restrict the sales activities of this subsidiary. For example, the company's entire retail business - both stationary and online - was closed. In addition, all investments in Russia were stopped. Equipment and services for Russian teams and top athletes have been suspended as long as they are not allowed to compete in international competitions.

By all measures, Fischer's priority is the fulfillment of contractual obligations and the well-being of its employees. As a manufacturer of premium sporting goods, Fischer respects all legal regulations and sanctions of the EU, while at the same time is convinced of the unifying effect of sports.
