Fillon Maillet and Öberg triumph in the mass start

Quentin Fillon Maillet (FRA, Fischer ***) and Hanna Öberg (SWE, Fischer ***) are the winners of the mass start on Pokljuka plateau (SLO). Johannes Thingnes Bø (NOR, Fischer ***) finished third.

Quentin Fillon Maillet was in a class of his own in the last competition before the World Championships. He skied the maior part of the race together with his compatriot Martin Fourcade (FRA) and other athletes at the top of the field, even when both Frenchmen had to go into the penalty loop after the third shooting. With a perfect and fast final shooting, Fillon Maillet took seven seconds against his team-mate, which he extended on the last lap. A group formed behind him, which Johannes Thingnes Bø joined just before the finish after another penalty loop. The Norwegian secured third place. Johannes Dale (NOR, Fischer ***) finished seventh and Tarjei Bø (NOR, Fischer ***) ninth.

Hanna Öberg claims to be in the shape of her life and had never felt better than at her second place in the individual competition. She showed excellent shape again today and was quickly back in the lead after her penalty loop in the third lap, and she did not her lead on the final lap either. With one mistake in shooting Monika Hojnisz-Starega (POL, Fischer **) finished fourth and achieved her best result of the season ahead of Justine Braisaz (FRA, Fischer ***), who missed a target three times. Lisa Theresa Hauser (AUT, Fischer ***) finished seventh ahead of Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (NOR, Fischer ***).
