After a disappointing result for him in the first day of the three-day-competition in Chaux Neuve the World Cup leader Jarl Magnus Riiber (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) wanted to catch up in overall ranking and risked everything on the hill: His coach decided to shorten a hatch, but Riiber then missed by 0.5 meters the required 95% of the hillsize, so that he got additional 15 seconds for the cross-country race without additional 3.4 bonus points for shortened inrun length. So he had to risk everything in the 10 kilometer cross-country race, to reduce the gap to the lonely leading FJ Rehrl (AUT) and especially the group behind him. After 2.5 kilometers he joined the group but was completely exhausted and his legs were dead. However, Franz-Josef Rehrl was uncatchable for everyone, so that his four pursuers fought for second place: Akito Watabe and Fabian Rießle went side by side on the home stretch and the Japanese proved to be the stronger. Espen Bjørnstad (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) narrowly missed the podium in fourth, Mario Seidl (AUT, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished fifth. Jarl Magnus Riiber dropped back significantly in the second lap but was able to recover in the following group and win the final sprint in sixth place. Jørgen Graabak (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished seventh ahead of Terence Weber and Eric Frenzel (both GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots).
