The second Tour de Ski sprint in Val Müstair was again a tailor-made race for Stina Nilsson, despite the altitude and criticism of the Swedish team about the course. Unlike in their previous heats, the Swede raced the final from the lead, first at a moderate pace in the first lap. On the steep ascent she attacked as in the quarter and semi-final and tore a gap that no one was able to close as in Dobbiaco. During the entire two laps, the Americans were actually their only rivals, although this time three Norwegians had made it to the final. But there were no serious attacks on the US girls. "I liked the tracks in Dobbiaco, just because of the altitude, but this steep climb was good too, I like these situations where it gets as tight as here on this track, it's just a sprint," explained Stina Nilsson. Fourth place went to Ingvild Flugstad Østberg (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) despite a very poor finish corner, but Maiken Caspersen Falla (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) was already too far behind to be able to use the mistake for herself. Falla suffers from health problems throughout the season due to persistent infections she has never healed and continues to compete despite health risks. In the Tour de Ski, Diggins is now just ahead of Østberg, Natalia Nepryaeva (RUS, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) is now 15 seconds back after ending in the quarter-finals.
In the men's final, Sergey Ustiugov had the scepter in his hand for a long time, but Johannes Høsflot Klæbo always kept vigilant behind him. In the second lap, the pace was then significantly tightened, Pellegrino (ITA) stormed before the rise from five to three and together Klæbo and Pellegrino passed the Russian. The Norwegian beat the Italian safely and is now the first male athlete to win both sprints in a Tour de Ski. Ustiugov had to defend himself in the final sprint against Richard Jouve. The Russian made sure with hand signals that he was third, and together with Klæbo and Pellegrino he cheered for the lap of honor. Emil Iversen (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished fifth, while Sindre Bjørnestad Skar (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) dropped back early. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo now leads the Tour de Ski with twelve seconds advantage ahead of Ustiugov.
