Maren Lundby and Katharina Althaus showed in Oberstdorf an exciting duel for the victory. After the first round, the German was just ahead, but the Norwegian put forward 125.5 meters in the final. 128 meters from Althaus was not quite enough for the home win in better conditions. To jump around the hill record of 133 meters, however, was not possible with tailwind today. "I was very nervous to be the last on top in front of my home crowd, but I am delighted to be on the podium for the first time at home. But tomorrow I have another chance, this result gives me more confidence in the second competition", said Katharina Althaus. Chiara Hölzl (AUT, Fischer) finished fifth, Silje Opseth (NOR, Fischer) was in seventh place ahead of Carina Vogt (GER, Fischer), who landed far too early after a very restless first jump. Anna Odine Strøm (NOR, Fischer) became tenth.
