Double victory in the sprint for Johannes and Tarjei Bø

In the first sprint race of the season at the Biathlon World Cup in Östersund (SWE) the Bø brothers Johannes and Tarjei (both NOR, Fischer ***) celebrated a double victory.

Tarjei and Johannes Thingnes Bø completed the first sprint race with one shooting error each. Johannes was faster on the track and at the shooting range than his older brother, so the two separated 19 seconds at the finish. With a clean shooting, both maybe would have been beaten, so that they still had to fear for their double victory. "Two moments were critical: firstly, my error prone with Martin [Fourcade] right behind me. We were together again in our standing stage, but he had to go into the penalty loop twice. I skied two laps together with Tarjei so I knew he was in good shape", said Johannes. Tarjei said, "I'm always angry when my little brother beats me, last year he was too strong, but now I'm close." Alexander Loginov (RUS, Fischer ***) missed the podium in fourth with a missed target, too. Sixth went despite two penalties to Johannes Kühn (GER, Fischer ***) followed by the Norwegian talent Johannes Dale (NOR, Fischer ***). Julian Eberhard (AUT, Fischer ***) finished ninth ahead of Vladimir Iliev (BUL, Fischer ***).

Katharina Innerhofer (AUT, Fischer ***) achieved her best result for a long time with seventh place and relegated Lena Häcki (SUI, Fischer ***) to eighth place. Celia Aymonier (FRA, Fischer ***) finished ninth ahead of Vita Semerenko (UKR, Fischer ***).
