Öberg and Bø win last mass starts in Oslo

With the mass starts on Holmenkollen ended the World Cup season of the biathletes. Hanna Öberg (SWE, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) and Johannes Thingnes Bø (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) are the winners of the last races and both were able to secure the small crystal globes for the Mass Start World Cup.

For Hanna Öberg, the last race of the season was a sort of start-finish victory, in which the Olympic Champion and World Champion was always at the very front and celebrated her first World Cup victory at the end. The Swede came together with Paulina Fialkova (SVK, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) and Clare Egan (USA) for the final shooting into the stadium, followed closely by the faster Denise Herrmann (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) and Tiril Eckhoff (NOR , Fischer skis, bindings and boots). Öberg, Egan and Eckhoff had to go into the penalty loop due to now stronger wind, Herrmann even twice and Fialkova three times. The Swede went alone into the last lap, but first the American and later the Norwegian caught up more and more. Nevertheless, Hanna Öberg managed to realize her first World Cup victory. Tiril Eckhoff finished second. Fourth went to Denise Herrmann ahead of Lisa Theresa Hauser (AUT, Fischer skis, bindings and boots), who scored all targets in the final shooting. Paulina Fialkova reached the finish in sixth place. Franziska Preuss (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) became eighth and Anastasiya Kuzmina (SVK, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished her successful career as tenth.

Johannes Thingnes Bø behaved unusually restrained on the first three laps and was rarely in the lead. In the third shooting, he opened a gap with a rapid shooting against the other clean shooter and further extended his lead. On the final lap, he asked several times for his lead and when he was then in the stadium he took a Viking hat from the coaches and crossed the line with it. The Norwegian had an impressive season and won all the crystal globes. Julian Eberhard (AUT, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) narrowly missed the podium in fourth place. Philipp Nawrath (GER, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) finished ninth in front of Tarjei Bø (NOR, Fischer skis, bindings and boots).
