Lampic and Klæbo triumph in the Tour de Ski sprint

Anamarija Lampic (SLO, Fischer ***) and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (NOR, Fischer ***) won the freestyle sprint on the second Tour de Ski stage in Lenzerheide (SUI). Maiken Caspersen Falla (NOR, Fischer ***) and Natalia Nepryaeva (RUS, Fischer ***) made it onto the podium.

In the women's final, the pace was initially determined by Jessie Diggins (USA), who, after a black day in the mass start for the entire team, made the jump to the final together with Sadie Maubet Bjornsen (USA, Fischer ***). In the second lap Maiken Caspersen Falla tried an attack on the climb and Diggins fell behind Anamarija Lampic and also had to fight for third place with Natalia Nepryaeva. Falla and Lampic were able to pull away minimally, but the American closed the small gap again. Maiken Caspersen Falla went first on the home stretch, but Anamarija Lampic came closer and closer from the slipstream. She snatched victory from the Norwegian and celebrated her second World Cup victory. "You did it!" said Falla, who was quicker to understand. In the battle for third place, Natalia Nepryaeva succeeded against Diggins, who had no more energies in the end. Sadie Maubet Bjornsen finished fifth.

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo was also unbeatable in his third sprint race this winter and celebrated his third win of the season. However, he let the others do the work in all heats. So it was in the final Richard Jouve (FRA), who led the race in the first lap at a slow pace. After the illness-related exit of the Planica winner and sprint World Cup leader Lucas Chanavat (FRA, Fischer ***), the Frenchman had to pull the chestnuts out of the fire for his team. However, he could not prevent Klæbo from taking a lot of speed from the last corner as in the heats before and thus taking the win at high speed. Second came to Federico Pellegrino (ITA), who had always stayed at the Norwegian's ski ends. Richard Jouve saved third place in the finish clearly ahead of Gleb Retivykh (RUS, Fischer ***). Johan Häggström (SWE, Fischer ***) finished fifth.
